Featured Quilt - A Menagerie of Brilliant Birds

This beautiful appliqué quilt, Espalier by Joann Webb, with its arbor full of colorful birds is a treat for the eyes. We particularly love all of the details in the birds and the interesting border treatment, which is something we've never seen before. On display at Houston 2021, it was already an award-winner for Best Original Design at AQS Daytona in 2019.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Ripe and Fresh Quilt To See
"Ripening" by Ellen Lindner

Ripening is inspired by a photograph that Ellen took of some local Florida foliage. The foliage in question, is a specific palm tree in Florida that around December grows both red and green berries. As a result the tree is known as a "Christmas Palm". Ellen says, "It's December in Florida, and the berries of a Christmas Palm are responding to the warmth of the sun. The branches mature at different rates, showing the colors that prompted the name."
