Featured Quilt - Best Stationary Machine Workmanship at the 2023 AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah

Pat Holly's beautiful quilt, Joyful Japan, has won another prestigious award, taking home Best Stationary Machine Workmanship at the 2023 AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah. Pat herself had this to say about her award-winning quilt, "Yea! Joyful Japan won Best Stationary Machine Workmanship Award at Paducah! And, to top it off, this award is sponsored by my favorite machine company, BERNINA!!"

Pat's quilt previously won First Place - Large Quilts - Stationary at 2022 AQS QuiltWeek, Grand Rapids and Best of Show - Quiltfest Greenville in April 2022. And don't forget to click the Quilt Video tab to watch an interview with Pat and Bonnie Browning discussing her win on the floor of the Grand Rapids show, where Pat shares how she found the ideas for her quilt from her trip to Japan.

Quilters' Save Our Stories with Eileen Doughty

What's Being Shared In This Week's Story?

The Quilters' Save Our Stories (QSOS) program from the Quilt Alliance makes a triumphant return this week with an interview with Eileen Doughty. In it, Eileen talks about the quilt she brought, inspired by a story from J.R.R Tolkien that she read as a teenager, and amongst other things, her family's support of her quilting, her inspirations, her studio, and so much more.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Bouncing Around Curves

"Bounce" by Scott Hansen

Bounce is Scott's newest quilt and his most recently released pattern. What Scott likes about the quilt, and that he noticed in the small version that hung on his wall, is that it has curves even though it is entirely made of straight lines. While a little bit afraid of curves, Scott had done them before but had never featured them in his patterns. This quilt remedies that in a way that involves not actually making the curves themselves.
