Featured Quilt - Turning Day Into Night
Three weeks ago today the United States was captivated by the total solar eclipse that took place on April 8, 2024. When we saw this quilt at the 2024 AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah this past weekend we were taken back to that magical day and what took place in the sky. Solar Eclipse by Michelle Trimble was a Semi-Finalist in the Small Wall Quilts - 1st Entry in an AQS Paducah Quilt Contest and features a design based on the Modern Wedge Block. Using improv piecing and free-motion quilting, Michelle has brought to life the amazing sensation of seeing the moon pass in front of the sun and turning day into night for just a few minutes.

"Mutton But Letters" by Janet Stone
Janet Stone's Mutton But Letters has been received numerous awards including Best of Show MQS 2011 and Best Home Machine Workmanship at the 2011 AQS Quilt Show & Contest in Des Moines. She says of the inspiration for the quilt, "I bought a pile of fat quarters at a quilt show, had them sitting on the table, kept looking at them, and soon realized they needed to be SHEEP! This is the 8th quilt in my ongoing alphabet quilt series and has been lucky enough to win several prizes so far."
