Featured Quilt - A Ricky Tims Inspired Design
Converging Hobbies by Jane Schiemer takes its inspiration from the work of our very own Ricky Tims. Featured in the Machine Quilting category (Sponsored by BERNINA) at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival, Jane says, "This quilt is the convergence of three of my hobbies - fabric dyeing, quilting, and Zentangle. I used my hand-dyed silk fabric and created the design using Ricky Tims' Convergence technique. The inspiration for the quilting was based on the Zentangle method of filling defined spaces with lines, curves, and orbs."

What Can You "Make Do" With In Your Stash?
Mary Kerr loves to make do with the vintage linens she has collected over 30 years. She’s known for her quilts featuring a mixture of unrelated blocks that become a new design. In our latest show, Mary shows Alex a fun way to improv piece small bits of fabric leftovers (cracklin’), binding, fragments of batting, and vintage linens and turn them into special gifts for family and friends.
Learn from Mary by watching her in Learn the Art of Make Do Quilting (Cracklin Mats) and the Elements of Southern Quilts with Mary Kerr.

Planting The Seeds For Your Next Great Quilt
We just love these fun fabrics filled with garden delights including seeds, flowers, and vegetables. The fabrics in this collection are inspired by the designer's fond memories of pouring over seed catalogs with her mother, and offer a bounty of colorful designs to work with.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Face Born From Doodling

"Old Lady" by Lola Jenkins
One day Lola got a piece of paper and drew an oval because she wanted to practice quilting that day. After getting the oval down, and deciding that her drawing capabilities weren't that good, Lola decided to draw some eyes and a mouth and went from there. She then appliquéd around the eyes and mouth to create the nose, not knowing exactly how to make one. From this doodling and quilting the Old Lady was born.
