Featured Quilt - Second Place Log Cabin Challenge at QuiltCon 2023
It's Not What it Seams by Marah Light won Second Place in the American Patchwork & Quilting Log Cabin Quilting Challenge at QuiltCon 2023. Marah had this to say about the monochromatic color scheme that inspired her award winning quilt.
"The seam allowance, usually hidden, is the primary design element of
this quilt. I used only white fabric to construct the blocks and placed them atop black batting to reveal the design. This creates the illusion that the quilt is created from gray and white fabrics. The small bright white lines are the extra layers of seam allowance below the surface. I chose white fabric for its transparency and as a reference to whole-cloth quilts, which similarly create their design using a single fabric color."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Keeping An Eye On You
"Neighborhood Watch" by Rhonda Denney
Neighborhood Watch won
Best Wall Pictorial at the Mancuso New England Quilt Festival 2022. The quilt was made using a combination of confetti, collage, and pigment patchwork. Rhonda says of its creation, "Our dog Mason loved to perch on this lichen-covered boulder on our patio and keep an eye out for activity below. The views from our ranch house location were magnificent. Inspired by a photograph. I loved the challenge of capturing the beauty of an early summer day in Colorado."
