Featured Quilt - Second Place Minimalist Design at QuiltCon 2024
Crossway by Steph Skardal won Second Place - Minimalist Design (Sponsored by Lo & Behold Stitchery) at QuiltCon 2024. Steph's quilt definitely fits the bill of a minimalist quilt, featuring a singular line that crisscrosses the face of the quilt and not much else.
Steph describes the quilt as such, "Crossway is inspired by the Cycladic architectural lines of the Greek islands featuring simple, smooth curves against a simple grid. An inspirational photo from a vacation many years ago inspired the shapes and layers, blended with gradient colors of bias strips against a solid backdrop. This piece was constructed by first quilting a solid top followed by bias strip machine appliqué."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Leathered Look Using Fabric

"Home!" by Cathy Wiggins
Cathy says of her quilt, Home!, "There aren't many things more beautiful than a finely tooled western saddle. I wanted to create that look with quilting. The leather is quilted, then dyes are used to achieve the desired tooled look. I used actual western conchos on the saddle and studs on the hat brim. I love the raw edges of the hides and try to incorporate them into my designs whenever possible."
