Featured Quilt - "Florally" Yours From QuiltCon 2023

Florally by Heather Heck was featured in the Modern Traditionalism category at QuiltCon 2023. Heather says, "Florally was inspired by a challenge to design a quilt using mainly curves. The traditional petal and circle blocks are combined to create a flower block. These flower blocks are then placed in such a way that an abstract flower can also be seen in the overall design. I don't typically use bright colors or curves so the design and fabric choices were a step outside of my comfort zone and a great chance for growth."

Everyone's Riding The David Owen Hastings Train!

Our Members Can't Get Enough of David and His Modern Designs

The Quilt Show has another hit on its hands as our show with David Owen Hastings has became a new favorite among our members. Here's just a small sampling of what they have to say:

"Thank you! Thank you! I have always thought I would be a traditional quilter ONLY but my eyes have been opened to a truly wonderful way to create a modern quilt. It totally struck a cord with me as to David Owen Hastings' way of doing modern quilting designs. The architectural design element is something that I really like and after he showed how to practice and use the samples as small quilts, I was blown away. Thank you David. You have opened my eyes to some new possibilities!"Cindy M.

"LOVED the David Owen Hastings segment! Thank you so much for sharing him with us."Emily W.

"David Owen Hastings - what a great teacher! I loved his section so much that I have already watched it twice. Thank you The Quilt Show - you've done it again!"Jo G.

"More David Owen Hastings please. ASAP" - Frankie W.

Thimbles Aren't Just For Fingers Anymore

This pretty ceramic thimble will add some sparkle to your sewing space and keep you organized. Keep it next to your sewing machine to hold small sewing tools or on your desk for pens and pencils. We like to use it as a plant pot too!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: What's Missing Here?

"The Missing U" by Cheryl Arkison

The Missing U comes from Cheryl's first book all about using your scraps. Each one of the blocks in the quilt is known as a slab because you're sewing fabric together to create each unit. This quilt design was used by Cheryl after the big flood in Calgary in 2013 to support the city and the surrounding areas affected. In the aftermath, people wanted to know what they could do to help. Cheryl told them to send one slab each. She expected to receive around 200 but ended up getting 2300 slabs from all over the world. Using those slabs, and the aid of a number of volunteers, Cheryl created hundreds of quilts based on The Missing U pattern to help support the cause.

I love Five Nights at Freddy's, and think it deserves the #1 spot.
