Featured Quilt - Where The Unicorns Run Free

This delightful quilt by Maebel Heyd in the Youth Quilts category at QuiltCon 2023 will make you want to visit Unicorn Land. Maebel says of her quilt, "I love unicorns because they have magic in their horns. My favorite colors are gold, blue and rainbows. I created sunshine, clouds and raindrops so the rainbow could grow. I picked out glitter fabric because I love anything that sparkles. I designed this quilt, drew my own pictures on the fabric, cut it out, and put it on the fabric. I sewed the hair and rainbow colors together on my mom's sewing machine. My mom told me what to do, helped me iron and trim the quilt.

Quilt Alliance: We Are Our Stories by Karen S. Musgrave

How Quilters' Save Our Stories (QSOS) Came To Be

From Amy Milne, Executive Director of the Quilt Alliance: "In this issue we are honored to present a guest essay from Karen S. Musgrave, a past volunteer and QA board member, who played a pivotal role in the development of the QSOS oral history project. Karen is an interdisciplinary, multihyphenate artist whose recent body of work deals with loss, memory, and identity. She feels passionately about connecting cultures with quilts. Karen's memories from her work with QSOS paints a vivid picture of what volunteer work can offer an artist, especially giving back to and gaining from a passion project."

A Wallet From the American Revolution

How Old Is This Wallet?

This wallet from the DAR museum looks brand new. The colors are amazing, as is the handwork, but embroidered on the wallet is the date 1776. Do you think your work will survive for over 200 years?

The Process of Making a Suit

Tailor Made and Ready To Go

Do you want to know why James Bond looks so good? It's because he wears a bespoke (custom-made) suit. In this absolutely mesmerizing video, you can watch the beginnings of a handmade suit being made. From measurements to pattern making to the actual cutting of the fabric, this man is a true craftsman and he wears a suit through the whole process. And trust us, you don't want to mess with this guy's scissors.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Peace From a Piece of Art

"Young Bamboo" by David Owen Hastings

David has a love of Japanese art and culture and loves the idea of a piece of art bringing you a sense of peace, which Young Bamboo certainly does. The style in this quilt is reflected in much of David's other work and is more his aesthetic, featuring quieter colors and a neutral paired with a bright color.

I'm thrilled to share that I discovered a website offering an extensive guide on creating applications for healthcare systems. It's been my goal to develop an app that can streamline processes and improve patient medical software development care within the healthcare industry. The website's guide is comprehensive and covers everything from design principles to data security, making it a valuable resource for developers like me.
