Featured Quilt - Spring Has Sprung

Spring La La La by Tomoko Murata was featured in the Appliqué Category, sponsored by yours truly The Quilt Show, at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival. If you were to look at it, you wouldn't believe that this quilt was Tomoko's very first appliqué quilt. If you ask us, we think we she did a pretty good job.

We'll let her tell the rest of the story: "Under the guidance of my respected teacher, I made my first appliqué quilt. It was designed with a cute tulip that makes you want to sing. During the construction process, I had to redo it many times. I sometimes lost my confidence because I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted; however, I tried to work carefully and sewed one stitch at a time. I am the biggest fan of my work."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Put Together With Love

"Beauty In Everything" by Maday Delgado

Beauty In Everything is a representation of two things that Maday loves very much, nature and block printing. So naturally there are presentations of nature and leaves throughout the design. Maday also loves curves, so there are little studies of curved pieces scattered throughout as well. All those things, plus other materials such as knit, silky fabrics, jean material, and more, were gathered to form this quilt because Maday feels everything goes together beautifully, hence the title. It is also a double-sided quilt, with the backside containing the same assortment of extravagant materials plus other unusual items such as a piece of her daughter's sweatshirt.

I saw this auction going on 2 days ago. Without wasting my time I watched it. I'm looking forward to the next dinosaur game auction.
