Featured Quilt - Sticks & Stones Make Loving Homes
My Stick Family by Jody Taylor from QuiltCon 2023 shows a family with a lot of heart (even if they are just made of sticks). Jody says, "When my kids were young, I was a work-at-home mom so I was fortunate enough to be able to drive them to school and pick them up every day. During our commute, we would always see stick family decals on the windshields of other people's cars and we would have fun speculating about their stories. We never had a windshield decal for privacy and security reasons, but now, we have our very own stick family quilt! This quilt brings me joy and reminds me of happy family memories from the past. P.S. Check out my husband's legs. Tee hee! The "My
Stick Family" quilt is part of my foundation paper piecing pattern design journey. @lovelanguagequilts"

Watch as Yulia Brodskaya Quills (not Quilts) with Paper

What is Quilling?
From artyulia: "Renowned paper artist Yulia Brodskaya pushes the boundaries of the centuries-old craft known as paper Quilling.
Originally trained as a graphic designer and illustrator, her first paper artworks were born out of a desire to create self-promotional work to impress potential design clients. But by spelling her name ‘YULIA’ in strips of paper, she had unknowingly entered the world of this centuries-old paper craft and completely reinvented it: thanks to a decade of Yulia’ s paper art practice, Quilling is enjoying a modern revival."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Blue and White All Over

"Ao To Shiro Blue And White" by David Owen Hastings
Ao To Shiro Blue And
White shows off David's love of Japan. David dyed all of the blue and white fabric used in the quilt in Japan, and while over there took a workshop in Shibori, which is a fabric dyeing style closely associated with the country. Once home, David wanted to pay homage to this great fabric, so he developed three block designs based on origami. When you unfold a piece of origami, there is all this linework showing off on the piece of paper. David looked to those lines for his block designs in this quilt.
