Featured Quilt - Best of Show at the Victorian Quilters Quilt Showcase 2025
Eve of Destruction by Sue de Vanny won Best of Show (Sponsored by BERNINA Australia) at the Victorian Quilters Quilt Showcase 2025 at Melbourne Craft & Quilt Fair. The inspiration for the quilt comes from a photograph that Sue took and repurposed, and shares an important message too. She says, "This is a modern, abstract piece derived from one of my elephant photographs. It delves into the concept of the 'elephant in the room', highlighting the often unspoken struggles of mental health that affect us & our loved ones as well as how we try to put it back together." |

SAQA’s 2025 Benefit Auction - It's Almost Here |
Auction Begins September 12 & Special Textile Talk September 10
It’s almost time! Beginning September 12, 2025 almost 400 art quilts will be available in the 2025 Benefit Auction from Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA). This online event supports the organization’s exhibition programs, publications, and education outreach. One of those quilts, X Marks the Spot, is by our own Alex Anderson.
Many of the art quilts are made by artists familiar to The Quilt Show, including Vicki Conley, Lisa Brehm Ellis, and Barbara Yates Beasley. Each 12" x 12" piece is an original work made by SAQA members from around the world. The result is an opportunity to acquire a work by a favorite artist or one who is new to you.
In anticipation of the auction, there will be a special Textile Talks presentation - Deep Dive into the 2025 SAQA Benefit Auction on September 10, 2025 featuring SAQA Executive Director Martha Sielman and several event artists. |

Museum of Texas Tech University: A Bow Tie Quilt with Significant Backing |
Pieced with Feed Sacks
Many of the quilts offered to the Museum of Texas Tech by the local community date from the early 20th century, a time when the area was becoming more fully settled. These quilts often feature soft colors and traditional patterns, as is the case with this one. However, what made this quilt particularly significant for the Museum’s collection was its backing: the maker used feed sacks with woven stripes along the edges, sewing them together to form the back.
Read the latest article from the Museum to find out more about this fascinating historical quilt.

Enjoy the Exhibition and a Gallery Talk at the Museum
From the International Quilt Museum: "On Sept. 10, join us for a gallery talk of the exhibition “30 Variations and 2 Arias: A Tribute to JS Bach” with French quilt artist Anne Bellas! Learn about these incredible quilts from the artist and enjoy free access to the exhibition as well as refreshments. In this exhibition, Bellas reimagines Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Goldberg Variations” through a collection of 32 textile paintings, each corresponding to a single variation of the celebrated score. Using fabrics inherited from her great-grandmother—transformed through her own processes of dyeing and printing—Bellas creates works that merge personal memory with the universal language of music.
The gallery talk will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 in the IQM’s Pumphrey Gallery."
Can't attend the talk, visit the exhibit on your own time as “30 Variations and 2 Arias: A Tribute to JS Bach” is on display at the International Quilt Museum in Lincoln, NE from September 10, 2025 to February 7, 2026. |

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A "Jubilee" For All to See
"Ruby Jubilee" by Ninigret Quilters, Assembled by Tina Craig
Ruby Jubilee is the quilt that Tina coordinated for her guild's, the Ninigret Quilters, 40th anniversary, and it was inspired by Barbara Black's red and white quilt. Tina asked her guild's members, of about forty who participated, to make something that incorporated whatever technique they did best. She provided the background neutral cream color, and the members provided the sampler blocks using their red fabrics. It was assembled by Tina, and quilted by Pat Harrison.
