My Journey With Grace by Barbara J. Clem won First Place - Hand Quilted Quilts at AQS QuiltWeek – Lancaster 2025. Not content with just its one hand quilting award, Barbara's quilt also took home Second Place - Hand Quilted Quilts at AQS QuiltWeek – Branson 2025, and Outstanding Hand Quilting (Sponsored by Martelli Enterprises, Inc.) at Road to California 2025 in just this year alone.
The title is an appropriate one for Barbara, as making the quilt truly was a journey that she went on with the quilt from start to finish. She says, "From a stack of fabric "Grace" emerged. Each step of her creation adding more to her personality. Grace became my friend. When it was time to quilt her-she really began to speak, which delighted me. For nearly five years we chatted almost every day-just as good friends do...and she always brings a smile to my face as I gaze at her because I treasure that journey." |

Not Your Everyday Awards Show Attire
Last Sunday, actor Noah Wyle won his first Emmy award for his starring role as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch on the medial drama The Pitt. No stranger to playing a doctor, having played one for eleven years on another famous medical show ER, Noah wanted to pay tribute to the doctors and other healthcare workers portrayed on his show by wearing a tuxedo made entirely of scrubs. Since such an outfit did not exist, he asked scrubwear company FIGS if they could make one for him. Undaunted by the challenge, FIGS created a one-of-a-kind suit for Noah "designed solely for the Emmys and not available for sale." Stitch by Stitch - Bright is one of several samples of quilts that Susan made as part of her Stitch by Stitch series, which focuses on "tiny quilts with lots of detail and many techniques" that are favorites of hers to make. This bright one, containing beautiful and bright colored fabrics, features planned improv designs in each of its diamonds, and is one of the more fun and wonky samples that Susan has created.
