Murasaki Shikibu by Laura Franci won Best Stationary Machine Workmanship award at AQS QuiltWeek - Lancaster 2024. Laura's quilt depicts in stunning detail Murasaki Shikibu, "a Japanese novelist, poet and lady-in-waiting at the Imperial court in the Heian period. She is best known as the author of The Tale of Genji, widely considered to be one of the world's first novels, written in Japanese between about 1000 and 1012. Murasaki Shikibu is a descriptive name; her personal name is unknown." |

After weeks of build up, Quilters Take a Moment (QTM), the annual fundraiser and "virtual educational series created to help you document, track, and organize your quilts," is here. Join the Quilt Alliance today, September 20 and tomorrow, Saturday, September 21, 2024, to participate in all the great events they have planned. Click through to find out all that is going on at this annual event.
If you're already registered, great, just follow through to the QTM website and join in on the fun. if haven't registered yet, there's still time to do so and watch the events. The Quilt Show Puzzle: Let's Go "Downtown" |

"Downtown" by Kathryn Pellman
Wanting to make something fun, freeform, and playful that leaned into her love of houses, Kathryn created Downtown as a way to celebrate her well-known fashionista designs. Each little shop has a different story that plays into the idea of what you would need downtown. There's a produce shop, a wedding chapel, a coffee and chocolate shop, a pet store, and an art gallery. The fashionistas that reside at every shop weren't made to portray specific people, but were intuitively created by Kathryn, whose mother says that each character represents a part of her.
