Featured Quilt - First Place Large Quilts Movable Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek Grand Rapids 2024

If winning ribbons was a job, then Margaret Solomon Gunn would be very qualified for it. Her quilt, Dreams of a Summer Day, took home First Place - Large Quilts – Movable Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek - Grand Rapids 2024, its second first place ribbon, and third ribbon overall, in less than two years. This magnificent machine quilted beauty is made with Kaufman silk Radiance fabric that Margaret hand-dyed and "is mostly paper-pieced." She says, "I hand-dyed silk Radiance fabric. Quilting is done on a non-computerized longarm. Quilt evokes the bold, vibrant colors of summer with the ethereal essence of the sky."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Lovely Quilt

"I Will Love You Forever And Ever" by Patricia Belyea

I Will Love You Forever And Ever prominently features, and it may not be easy to tell at first glance, hand-dyed Yukata cotton fabric. The reason it may be difficult to tell is that this is not your traditional hand-dyed fabric, each part of the fabric is dyed, the flowers, the lines, everything. It is done using a very involved Japanese stencil technique called chusen dyeing. Thus, each fabric used in Patricia's quilt is its own hand-dyed pattern.
