Featured Quilt - Best Wall Quilt at AQS QuiltWeek - Grand Rapids 2024

Judith Phelps is a having a good couple of years with her quilt, Remembrance. The most recent award it won was for Best Wall Quilt at AQS QuiltWeek - Grand Rapids 2024. But, in just under two years this quilt has also taken home Second Place - Innovative at Pacific International Quilt Festival 2023 and Second Place - Pictorial Small at the 2022 Houston International Quilt Festival.

What idea brought such an award-winning quilt to life? Well it was actually a book challenge, where Judith chose "The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah, which takes place in France during World War Two" as her inspiration.

The full story of how The Nightingale inspired Judith can be found when you view the quilt and click on the About The Quilt tab. And you also don't want to miss all the amazing detail shots that we have of the beautiful quilting that Judith put into this piece.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Quilt with Heaps of "Praise"

"Symphony of Praise" by Kathy Wylie

Kathy writes, "Symphony of Praise is a replica of Instruments of Praise, which now resides in the U.S. National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY. Both quilts were inspired by Psalm 150: praise Him with the trumpet, harp and lyre, tambourine and dancing, strings and flute, resounding cymbals.

Appliqué was completed by the Royal Inland Hospital Auxiliary Quilters in Kamloops, B.C. My heartfelt thanks go to Gerry Buchanan, Victoria Gray, Peggy Heath, Earla Horne, Audrey MacKenzie, Sonja Marek, Niki Scallon and Ilene Zurowski. I couldn’t have made this quilt again without them.
