Ricky Tims’ quilt The Visitation has been selected by the committee of The Quilt Mural Project in Paducah, KY to become one of the larger-than-life murals on the city’s iconic floodwall. These extraordinary quilt murals are typically funded by a single benefactor or corporate sponsor. But this time, the honor has been given to all of us—the worldwide quilting community! Featured Quilt - Third Place Large Quilts: Movable Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2025

Rory's Bunny Garden by Joanne M. Pickett won Third Place - Large Quilts: Movable Machine Quilted (Sponsored by INNOVA) at AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2025. Using the Tulips for Oma pattern by Christa Smith (Cotton Berry Quilts, 2020) as her design source, Joanne created this quilt for someone very special in her life. She says, "Rory's Bunny Garden is a tribute to my granddaughter Emory (Rory) Slone Pickett. She selected this beautiful pattern from Cotton Berry Quilts and the color scheme. I made two changes to the pattern; the pieced checkered border and the scalloped border that I saw in American Quilter's Magazine September 2020 issue, the article is titled "Not Your Gramma's Prairie Points"."

After viewing the quilt and its detail photos in the gallery, be sure to click the Quilt Video tab to watch an interview between Joanne and AQS Executive Show Director Michelle Renee Hiatt on the floor of AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2025 where they talk about Joanne's quilt, her win, and more in depth.

Barbara Black's Tips for "Laurel Ridge" Month 10

See How Barbara Puts Her Stars Together

While many of you may be gearing up to make costumes for the end of the month, Barbara Black has taken the time to prepare some helpful tips for you for Month 10 of Laurel Ridge, the 2025 Block Of the Month designed by Lynn Wilder. She says, "Moving right along to Month 10. Now we make the Plaid Star blocks. There are only 8 of those and they are easy.  By now, you have made this star many times. Having only one square of fabric for the center makes this the fastest star yet."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Painted Masterpiece Becomes a Quilt

"Vermeer Meets Fassett" by Lynn Czaban

Inspired by Johannes Vermeer’s painting, Girl with a Pearl Earring, Lynn's Vermeer Meets Fassett was created using, as its title would suggest, Kaffe Fassett fabrics. Lynn made it as a follow-up quilt to her entry in The Quilt Life magazine's American Gothic challenge.
