Featured Quilt - Did You Say Witches?
Originally released as four individual embroidered patterns, The Mystery of the Salem Quilt Guild is Meg Hawkey's celebration of the quilt guilds of which she has been a part. She worked with that theme to encompass the spirit of the Halloween season. With the "witches" drawn by Meg herself, she began to, whether intentionally or not, recognize the different types of guild members she's been with over the years and saw them start to come to life in this quilt, hence the title.
Not to be overlooked either is the spooky quilting, including creative cobweb designs, done by Wendy Iris to bring out the Halloween theme in full effect.
See more of Meg's quilts, and learn from her too, right here at The Quilt Show by watching How to Use Crayons and Embroidery in Your Quilts with Meg Hawkey | Update Classic Quilts. |

Halloween is Just Around the Corner
Do you need some inspiration for your Halloween costume this year? Maybe you can take a page from Cruella and scare up something quick.
Before even saying a word you can tell so much about a character in film just by the costume that they're wearing. Nowhere is that more easily seen than in the costumes of Disney's film Cruella. Winning the Academy Award for Best Costume Design, go behind the scenes with Academy Award-Winning Designer Jenny Beavan and the cast of the film as they show off the outfits and inspiration of your least favorite dog person.
Watch both videos, with the first focusing on the fashion and costume design of the film, and the second which is all about the actors from the film reflecting on their outfits. |

Visit the Bees, Butterflies, and Birds
Designer Jennifer Moore says, "The Orchard and Grove prints were inspired by the rolling agricultural areas of California, and the fruit trees in my own backyard... I never tire of being able to walk into my garden and pick an orange in January. Our own tiny orchard is a haven for me, as well as all the bees, butterflies and birds that visit daily." |
