Featured Quilt - The Grace Company Mastery Award For Traditional Artistry at Houston 2024

Pathfinder is an appropriate name for Kyra Reps' quilt, as it keeps following the path to awards glory. Having won Second Place - Appliqué at Road to California 2024 and First Place - Large Quilts: Movable Machine Quilted (Sponsored by ABM International) at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2023 in less than two years, Kyra's quilt has now just won The Grace Company Mastery Award For Traditional Artistry (Sponsored by Grace Company) at the 2024 Houston International Quilt Festival. Congratulations Kyra!

Kyra says of her beautiful quilt, which features 3,133 appliquéd dots on the front and over 180 hours of free-motion quilting on the back, “In the same way that stars can only be seen at night, there is beauty that is only experienced in hardship. This quilt was inspired by those profound moments of love amid our suffering, laughter in our sorrow, hope in our despair. The beauty in the broken.”

And in case you didn't already know, Kyra will be making her way to The Quilt Show soon as a featured guest and she brought Pathfinder along with her too! Stay tuned for more details when this incredible show debuts!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Cavalcade of Colorful "Leaves"

"Listen To The Leaves" by Libby Williamson

These are not your typical fall leaf colors, but we might love them even more because of their atypical color palette. Listen To The Leaves was made by Libby for an invitational exhibit and was inspired by and is about the poet Mary Oliver. It is very heavily embroidered and features French Knots by the bushel, as Libby puts it.
