Featured Quilt - Second Place Wall Quilt: Quilter’s Choice at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2025
My Favorite Things by Hiroko Miyama and Masanobu Miyama won Second Place - Wall Quilt: Quilter’s Choice (Sponsored by Elna USA) at AQS QuiltWeek – Paducah 2025. The subject of the quilt is Hiroko's granddaughter, and the title comes from the fact that the quilt features all of her granddaughter's favorite things. Such things include caterpillars, butterflies, mushrooms, and Hiroko's three dogs, who are also stars of the quilt. My Favorite Things also contains Hiroko's first use of needle punch in one of her competition quilts, which she used to create the three-dimensional effects on the mushrooms and beetles. The quilt also took home awards for Best Wall Quilt at AQS QuiltWeek - Branson 2025 and an Honorable Mention in the Wall Quilts: Fiber Art / Mixed Media at AQS QuiltWeek - Daytona Beach 2025.
After viewing Hiroko's quilt in the gallery, be sure to click the Quilt Video tab to watch her interview with AQS Executive Show Director Michelle Renee Hiatt on the floor of AQS QuiltWeek Daytona Beach 2025 after winning her Honorable Mention award, where she talks about her quilt and the amazing details she incorporates. |

"All Squared Up" by Patty Murphy
The pattern for Patty's quilt, All Squared Up, was featured on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens Quilt Sampler magazine in Spring 2007. While Patty was working at a quilt shop at the time, someone from the magazine came in and saw Patty's quilt, loved it, and the rest is history. Quick, easy and versatile, Patty says, "this log cabin style quilt can be made in an afternoon."
