Featured Quilt - Finish What You Started
There is always a sense of accomplishment when you come back to a project that you thought you wouldn't finish and then do. There is probably an even greater sense of that feeling when that now finished project wins an award. That's just what happened with Barbara Oliver Hartman and her quilt, Trichotomy, which won Second Place in Open Division: One or Two-Person Modern Quilt at the 2024 Dallas Quilt Show.
Barbara says about the journey completing her work, "This quilt was begun several years ago and I decided to pick it back up and finish. It has many hand-dyed fabrics and was fun to work on and finish." |

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Swinging Sea Song
|

|
"Song of the Sea" by Kathy McNeil
Song of the Sea won a Blue Ribbon for Best Wall Quilt at Pacific International Quilt Festival 2015, amongst many other awards, and was created using some of the techniques featured in our latest Masterclass on Surface Design. Be on the look out, as Song of the Sea has a cameo in Kathy's segment of the show. As to how she achieved the end result of her unbelievable underwater quilt, Kathy says, "I had no idea where my lovely sea creature would take me. She ended up in an art nouveau design playing with / or eating her little friends?"

Just Roll With It
Quilters face challenges every day while working, but sometimes those challenges can lead to our greatest creative triumphs. So whether it is a broken needle, a mis-cut block, or the color you picked doesn't work, just keep going and you will succeed. And while we can't help you with a broken needle, The Quilt Show can offer inspiration and direction in those times when that creative spark just isn't lighting. So join us for the good, the bad, and, yes, even the ugly, here at The Quilt Show. We'll see you through whatever obstacles (or triumphs) lie ahead. |
