Featured Quilt - Getting Down To The Root of Things
Uprooted by June Jaeger was featured in the Abstract Category (Sponsored by Sew Steady) - Houston International Quilt Festival 2024. June says, "I like to find inspiration and beauty in the simple things in nature. I was intrigued by the shadow-play of an uprooted juniper tree. As I played with lines and fabrics, this piece took on a life of its own. The deeper I got into this piece, the more stories and symbolism began to appear. It represents the struggle of life and growth manipulating around the blockades as it strives to exist."

The Mastermind of Cherrywood Fabrics Tells Her Story
Meet Karla Overland, the visionary who launched the Cherrywood Challenge ten years ago—an initiative whose vibrant art quilt exhibitions helped transform the small hand-dyed fabric company into an internationally recognized name in the quilting world. The idea behind the contest was to see what makers could create using a limited color palette inspired by a specific theme. Over the years, they received as many as 500 entries per challenge, which were juried down to 225 for traveling exhibitions at venues beyond the quilting world—with the goal of inspiring and captivating audiences who may be unfamiliar with art quilts. Find out more about her, and get to see some of her own quilts too in our brand new show!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Vases Made of Kaffe |
"Fractured Fassetts" by Jenny Bowker
Fractured Fassetts was created using Jenny's tiling design method to create a pattern of repeating vases. The vases themselves were all made out of Kaffe Fassett fabric, hence the title. Jenny layered her design so that there were two distinct vases featured throughout, a gold one in the background and a red or purple one in the foreground. Each tile features three fabrics, a background, a red or purple for one vase, and a gold for the other.
