Featured Quilt - Feast Your Eyes on a View of Florida
The fun thing about landscape quilts, like most quilts, is that they are unique and specific to the person who makes them. For example, if you and your friend both look out of your respective windows to create a quilt of the landscape you see, they'll be different. So Debi Webb's landscape quilt , Florida Flora, was inspired by her life living in Bradenton, Florida. Featured as part of the Landscape Quilts category (Sponsored by French European Inc.) at Houston International Quilt Festival 2024, Debi says of her quilt, "The colorful flowering trees and shrubs of Florida fill the landscape as pelicans fly in for a landing. Hibiscus, royal poinciana, jacaranda, giant oaks, and many varieties of palm trees can all be seen from my studio window." |

Handwork Is The Word This Week

She shares how to work with world fabrics, hand-piece a Key West block, and offers quilting tips to support your journey as a hand quilter. Plus, Ricky honors his granny with a playful quilt of bars and wedges, entitled Cheese and Crackers, pulling from his stash and fat quarters.

Floral Fashion in Full Effect
Everything and anything can be material for your next project. Just as we've seen flowers be turned into stunning floral beds that resemble quilts, so too can those same flowers be used to adorn and create lavish garments. This concept has been executed with beautiful precision for the exhibit, Fleurs de Villes Downton Abbey, which "will immerse guests in the refined elegance and captivating drama of Downton Abbey, brought to life through exquisite floral artistry."
Learn more about the stunning exhibit and where you can see it on full display as it travels to ten cities across three countries. |

"The Big Fib" by Brandy Maslowski
Brandy says about The Big Fib, "Imposter Syndrome is real for many of us. Whether you are dressing yourself for a job interview, rocking your newborn to sleep, standing to speak in front of a group, or making your side gig your "real" career, we can all feel like we are not good enough. The Big Fib is a whimsical take on the Fibonacci Swirl as the creator (that's me!) makes the leap from art quilter to modern quilter because YES SHE CAN!"
