Featured Quilt - "L"ook! It's The Twelfth Quilt In Janet Stone's Alphabet Series!
The twelfth quilt in Janet Stone's Alphabet series is A Letter Bit of Baaltimore, which is Janet's interpretation of a Baltimore Album Quilt.
She says, "I came up with this design featuring 26 blocks in the style of Baltimore Album quilts. I found the set of metal letters and decided to sew them onto linen covered squares and center them in each block. I thought I was being so clever to design the arched top of the quilt. It hung fine on my wall after making it because it was a solid wall. When it went to its first quilt show, someone sent me a picture of it hanging in the show and the top arch part was flopped over the front of the quilt. Oh no!! When it arrived back home, I had to figure out a way to prevent that from happening again. I came up with using wide plastic zip ties and covering them with fabric to blend in with the fabric on the back and hand sewing them on."
Janet's quilts in the Alphabet series are currently hanging in the National Quilt Museum as part of her exhibit, Janet Stone: And Now I Know My ABCs! and have been collected and presented together in her most recent book, Mutton But Letters!, which is available to purchase in her Etsy shop or in the gift shop of The National Quilt Museum.
And a fun fact from Janet about this quilt: "This was the first 'big prize' winner at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas, an award I never thought I could or would achieve."

In this discussion, Scanlan will speak with Haynes about what makes quilts especially meaningful in public spaces, where their histories of function, memory, and community take on new visibility. Together they will consider quilts as architectural, sculptural, and social objects—and what happens when a form often associated with intimacy becomes part of the public realm."

"Dancing Ice Cream Cones #2" by Tina Curran
The first variation of Dancing Ice Cream Cones was made for Tina's first great-nephew. This one, Dancing Ice Cream Cones #2, hung at an outdoor art show where passersby commented on how "delicious" it looked and that they wanted to lick it. Others who saw it from afar commented on how they thought the titular dancing ice cream cones looked like stars, until they came up close to view it and saw Tina's vision.
