Featured Quilt - First Place Wall Quilts Movable Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek New England 2026

Mrs. D's Garden by Carole Behan Berry won First Place - Wall Quilts - Movable Machine Quilted at AQS QuiltWeek - New England 2026. Quilted by Patty Wilson, and using the "Fresh Cut Garden" pattern by Lisa Bongean (Primitive Gatherings, 2024) and "Chirp" pattern by Sue Spargo (Sue Spargo Folk Art, 2022) as her design sources, this quilt is only the SECOND quilt that Carole has made. She says, "This is the second quilt I have made, and it took me two years to complete. It depicts my next-door neighbor's garden when I was growing up. She was a prolific gardener and had a cat named Peanuts. Our road was named for the hawthorn tree. The border is my original design, as are the embellishments. The quilt was originally intended for my bed but it grew to be too large for it."

Tina Curran Builds Whimsical Garden Flower Collages

Grow Your Own Garden Using Fabric Foliage

Discover how to transform floral fabrics into vibrant garden quilts using Tina Curran's signature layered collage technique. Tina demonstrates how to create a dynamic pieced background, build dimension with fussy-cut flowers, and finish the quilt using simple appliqué and quilting techniques. She also shares creative variations on the process, from patriotic "firework" flowers to miniature postcard quilts, inspiring quilters to bring their own colorful gardens to life.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Let Your Horses Run Free

"Freedom" by Cathy Wiggins

Cathy says of her quilt, Freedom, "This was my first attempt at creating a tooled leather look with machine quilting and dyes. Leather shoe polish was used to give the finished piece a metallic feel. Each hole in the binding was hand-punched, then sewn with waxed thread."
