Featured Quilt - An "Explosion" of Amazing Quilting
Pyrotechnic Explosion by Alice Brown was featured in the Pieced category (Sponsored by TrueCut) at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival. Here's what Alice had to say about the inspiration behind her quilt, amazing firework shows, and the work she put into making it. She says, "Pyrotechnics is the art of using chemicals to create dazzling displays of color, usually in fireworks. This miniature pieced and quilted wall hanging uses fabrics from Jacqueline de Jong's own batik line from Anthology Fabrics, which were inspired by the brilliant flashes of color in fireworks displays. Those pyrotechnic explosions were enhanced through quilting and the use of colored Swarovski
crystals."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Scrappily Created Quilt
"Steam Punk" by Jen Kingwell
Steam Punk was created using traditional airship propeller blocks. Jen made the quilt because it could be done using all manner of scraps and scrappy fabrics, which she just loves. Each block can be made using only four fabrics or in Jen's case, fifteen or more since every block in her quilt utilizes a different set of fabrics.

Did You Hear The One About The Ghost?
That's right, during our latest round of taping it seemed like our humble little TQS crew was visited by a ghost in Denver, Colorado. They kept turning the above chandelier on and off throughout the day, and you can notice it throughout the shows we taped there during our Show and Tell segments. We're pretty sure it was a friendly ghost though, and they were just enjoying the show. What else happened during taping? You won't know unless you're a TQS member and watch the shows for yourself!
