Featured Quilt - Flowers That Go Round and Round
Dresden Flowers by Jackie Hillman was featured in the Appliqué category, sponsored by The Quilt Show itself, at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival. Jackie's design was inspired by both the Mariner's Compass and Dresden plates. As she puts it, "Being inspired by the trend of making circular quilts and loving flowers, I decided to make a giant Dresden. After completing the blades, I had no idea how to complete the center. I took a class from Robin Ruth and made the Mariner's Compass blocks using the same color scheme. These blocks were perfect for the center and corners."

Learn to Handle Hand Piecing with Ease
Jen Kingwell says working by hand quiets the mind and, with no starts and stops, is actually faster than machine piecing. Learn how to hand piece secure seams with a tailor’s knot, sew a continuous running stitch, and deal with pesky seam intersections and curves in our first show of the New Year.

"The Tractor Ride" by Heidi Kaisand
Heidi has another passion besides quilting...she and her husband collect antique tractors. This particular quilt, The Tractor Ride, tells the story of her travels around the state of Iowa at the frenetic pace of 12 miles per hour on her tractor. After taking a class from Sandy Bonsib on how to work with memory quilts, Heidi utilized different photographs, some of the actual tractor that she and her husband drove during The Great Iowa Tractor Ride, as well as the manuals from those tractors, and then a special piece of artwork from Walter Haskell Hinton, to create The Tractor Ride.
