Featured Quilt - First Place Abstract at Road to California 2024
A quilt that features two dominant colors as its central conceit has to win AT LEAST two awards, right? Well, Power Struggle by Barbara Danzi has fulfilled that quota by winning its second prize in less than a year. This time it won First Place in the Abstract category at Road to California 2024. Last year it was awarded a Judge's Choice Ribbon in the Log Cabin Challenge at QuiltCon 2023. What two colors dominant Barbara's quilt? She says, “Purple wants to be king and be the focal point in any
quilt. Orange and purple are competing for attention."
After viewing the quilt, make sure to click the About The Quilt tab to read and get more insight from Barbara about this quilt with competing colors.

"I was lucky enough to visit my son in Denver in November and visit the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum...one of my favorite places to go while in CO. Diana Fox had a solo exhibit in their Northeast Gallery and I was awe struck with her work! How surprised and happy I was to watch today's show and get to see how she evolved into the artist she is as well as get mini lessons in how she creates such fabulous work! Thank you to The Quilt Show and Diana!!" - kperez

"Amsterdam Alley: The Shortcut Between" by Leslie Tucker Jenison
This is Amsterdam Alley: The Shortcut Between by Leslie Tucker Jenison. It measures 48" x 36" and the materials used include silk, cotton, canvas, dye, paint, bamboo felt, both cotton and polyester thread, along with Mistyfuse fusible. It is currently part of a private collection. Leslie had this to say about her work, "This quilt was inspired by a photograph I took during a trip to Amsterdam, Netherlands. I felt it would be an interesting challenge to expand the borders of the image into a quilt. The dye-painted graffiti is based on the colorful images I was exposed to in other parts of the city."
