Featured Quilt - Enjoy The Journey
Turn the Dial by Kathy York was featured in the A Celebration of Color exhibit at the 2023 Houston International Quilt Festival. Kathy's quilt acts as a great analogy for the new year and all of us that are trying to chart a new course for ourselves with our resolutions. She notes that while we may put in the extra effort to follow the direct path to our goals in life, or "turning the dial", we must "remember that the path created can be just as beautiful as the goal."

You’ll Never Look at Templates in the Same Way
Jen Kingwell begins her first demo by discussing how templates, especially acrylic, aren’t just for machine piecing, but also finds that they are very beneficial when it comes to hand piecing. She then shares tips on adjusting for fabric stretch, template placement, cutting a curve, as well as how to draw a ¼” seam around the edge using the corresponding template shape.

Month 1 of the 2024 BOM Is Now Available!
We are beginning our Pick a
Petal journey together with the centre block. Jen says, "I describe myself as an organic designer (... it sounds better than ‘unorganized’) and a medallion style quilt lends itself perfectly to this way of working. The centre block sets the tone for the entire layout, and I was really happy with this when I had finished. The low volume contrast fabric really makes the colourful shapes pop."

"Modern Logs" by Christa Watson
Modern Logs is Christa's first class sample which she created to teach students how to make a Modern quilt. It is based on a traditional log cabin design and made using both straight and wonky strips to allow students the freedom to create log cabin blocks the way that they'd like to.
