Featured Quilt - First Place Pieced Wall at Road to California 2024
Amy Pabst debuted her magnificent quilt Magenta Ultralight on The Quilt Show when she visited in December 2023. She told us that it would be her competition piece for the next couple of years, and in the short time since its debut it has now received a big award. Winning First Place in the Pieced Wall category at Road to California 2024, Magenta Ultralight took Amy over 400 hours to make. See some amazing close up detailed shots of the impeccable small log cabin blocks she made when viewing the quilt in the gallery.
She says of the journey it took to make the quilt, "I have made over 4,000 log cabin blocks in the past decade but I've never felt like I was doing the same thing over and over. This quilt was foundation pieced on a 1947 Singer Featherweight and machine quilted in the ditch on a BERNINA. There are over 17,000 pieces."

"Confetti" by Diana S. Fox
Confetti is Diana's tribute to the idea that we have something to celebrate every day in life. When she originally finished the quilt, Diana felt that it came out a little boring and that it didn't have enough oomph, so she decided to put a little bit of hand stitching on it. Cut to 250 hours and however many thousands of stitches later, Diana was satisfied and decided it was now finished. As a result, Confetti won First Place in the Handwork category (Sponsored by Sulky) at Quiltcon 2023.
