Featured Quilt - MQG Breakthrough Award at QuiltCon 2025
I may be Square but not Fuddy-Duddy by Jackie Pang won the MQG Breakthrough Award (Sponsored by Modern Quilt Guild) at QuiltCon 2025. Taking a cue from her past as inspiration, Jackie's quilt evokes the colors and style of her youth that will be all too familiar to a generation of people. She says, "This quilt is a tribute to my '70s childhood memories - my mother's dress, my sister's scarf, and home's familiar curtains. Retro hues and geometric shapes from that era carry warmth and vibrance, reimagined here in a fresh, modern way. Centered on squares with unique variations, the design balances structure and flow, creating a lively path of color and shape. It's a rhythmic, modern twist on tradition - proof that a square can be innovative and anything by "fuddy-duddy." |

This Book Is Out Of This World
Karen Lantz, formerly Karen Gloeggler, was a guest of The Quilt Show back in Series 1400 where she told us all about how she created a series of quilts, and a quilt book, inspired by Jane Austen’s romantic novels, along with sharing how to find, and then incorporate vintage fabrics, handkerchiefs, and doilies into your quilts to give them a Jane Austen flair. Now, Karen has a brand new book titled The UFO Cure: Managing UnFinished Objects to Restore Your Joy in Quilting, which will help you complete and take care of all those UnFinished Objects (UFOs) stashed away in your closet.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Exploring The Wild West |

"Windspirit" by Carol Ann Sinnreich
Carol always wanted to make a quilt with wild mustangs because she feels they are iconic features of the West, and Windspirit became that quilt. The major figure of the piece, the white horse, is called a Medicine Hat horse. This is a unique breed that has a white mane, a white tail, and a dark spot on top of their heads. In addition to the central horses, Carol created a beautiful big sky as their backdrop as she is a big fan of skylines from living in the West. The quilt measures 72" x 51".
