Featured Quilt - Building Up To New Heights

From Log Cabins to Skyscrapers by Judy Beskow was featured in the Tactile Architecture Exhibit at Houston International Quilt Festival 2024. Judy's quilt is not only exciting visually, but is fun for using the common quilting concept of the Log Cabin Block as its basis and "building" it up into the skyscrapers of the title, which is also the name of the fabric she used. She says, "I challenged myself to make a quilt using Log Cabin blocks and the Hoffman Skyscraper fabric."

"Ova Nova" by Louisa Smith

Ova Nova features ovals, instead of the more common circles that Louisa likes to use in her quilts, as a way to see how one of her quilts would turn out utilizing this shape. Not only acting as a "What If?" type of design for Louisa, it also doubles as a color study that pulls different values from all across the color wheel. She says it was great fun to make.
