Featured Quilt - A Beautiful Quilt That Tells a Story
On Wednesday's LIVE we spoke with Oluwaseyi Awoyomi, who is the daughter of Mama Nike Okundaye. Nike had multiple quilts featured as part of the Tales from Africa Exhibit that was on display at the 2024 Houston International Quilt Festival. These quilts are filled with a rich history and beautifully tell stories with just a thread and a needle. We wanted to highlight one of the quilts that was discussed in the interview and let you zoom in a little closer to get a better look. That quilt is Strength of a Woman.
Nike says of her work, "This quilt is a part of the series that includes Sango, God of Thunder and Osun Goddess. Strength of a Woman represents the wife of Sango. She is more powerful and is the only one who can appease her husband when he is upset. From the image here, you can observe that she is bringing water to her husband, while he is spitting fire."

Twice The Fun Is Coming Your Way This Sunday
Bonnie Langenfeld and Michelle Freedman are the next two guests on deck to visit The Quilt Show. Each has their own distinct style of quilt that they want to share with you how to make, one you may have heard of and the other maybe not. Bonnie will be sharing how to work on landscape quilts, while Michelle will be teaching how to make the Magic Waffle Quilt. We'll just leave it at that as you join us on set to get a look at this week's show.
Watch Bonnie and Michelle in Learn About Landscapes and Thread Sketching with Bonnie Langenfeld | The Magic Waffle Quilt with Michelle Freedman, when it debuts this Sunday, December 15, 2024. |

In Case You Missed It
Due to technical difficulties with Facebook, Ricky's LIVE this past Wednesday was interrupted and many of our viewers were unable to watch the entire interview we featured between Lilo Bowman and Oluwaseyi Awoyomi, the daughter of Mama Nike Okundaye. This was a wonderful conversation about Oluwaseyi's mother's quilts being presented as part of the Tales from Africa exhibition at the 2024 Houston International Quilt Festival. Since we didn't want anyway to miss it, we are presenting it again today so you can watch it in full, or you can enjoy it again. |

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Twisting Two Color Journey |

"Twisted Turns" by Lee Chappell Monroe
What Lee loves about her Twisted Turns quilt is that it was actually a challenge for her to make it. She gave herself the challenge to create an entire quilt using purple as one of central colors, as purple was not a "go to" color for her. She brought in a darker background so that the purple she wasn't so comfortable with was closer in value to the darker background. She says, "There's nothing more fun than playing with just two colors in a quilt. This quilt was born out of color play. Plus, I love a quilt that pieces quickly with a dynamic design!"
