On Monday's LIVE The Quilt Show spoke with Nigerian artist Uzoma Samuel Anyanwu, whose quilts were featured as part of the Tales from Africa Exhibit at the 2024 Houston International Quilt Festival. Today, Ricky is featuring our interview that Lilo Bowman had with Oluwaseyi Awoyomi, daughter of Mama Nike Okundaye, as her mother's quilts were also part of the exhibition at the 2024 Houston International Quilt Festival.
Mama Nike's work features a rich culture, indigo dyeing, big stitch, and very traditional looking pieces. It's a passport to another corner of the quilting world.
