Featured Quilt - Sometimes It Rains Even in Summer
On Wednesday we featured Cherry Blossom by Akiko Yoshimizu, which was made in the Kawaii style discussed in Alex's interview with Teresa Duryea Wong in Monday's LIVE. Today, we are featuring another amazing quilt by Akiko in the same vein. Just as Cherry Blossom featured 640 girls each with their own outfits, Akiko's Be Fashionable on Rainy Days! also features over SIX HUNDRED girls each with their own unique raincoats. Each individual was created by hand, and Akiko won First Place in the Hand Quilted Quilts category (Sponsored by Arrow Sewing) at AQS QuiltWeek – Paducah 2025 for her outstanding effort.

A New Set of Blocks Are Ready to be Made For Your Beautiful BOM
For Month 8 of Laurel Ridge, the 2025 Block Of the Month designed by Lynn Wilder, you will be making 32 Cat's Cradle Blocks. You will be building your skills by reinforcing the formula and method for making eight half-square triangles at a time.
There are two colorways for this year's BOM, Grandmother's Autumn and Granddaughter's Spring. If you purchased either of these kits, make sure to download the pattern that goes with the appropriate colorway as they do differ because of the fabrics being used. If you are using your own fabrics, we recommend that you download the patterns from the Grandmother's Autumn colorway to use as your guide.

"Batik Sunflowers" by Lynette S. Warren
Batik Sunflowers is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. The reason for all the handwork, even though she owns three sewing machines, is Lynette just loves to work by hand, and the feeling of accomplishment she gets after completing something by hand she says is second-to-none. Batik Sunflowers design comes from a traditional pattern that Lynette found in a quilt book, and is made Modern through her use of batik fabrics.
