Featured Quilt - Best Wall Movable Machine Workmanship Award at AQS QuiltWeek Paducah 2025
Gracious Blues by Claire Wallace just won the Grace Company Best Wall Movable Machine Workmanship Award at AQS QuiltWeek - Paducah 2025, but that's not the only award it's won. Last year Claire's quilt won Best of Show Traditional / Innovative at the South African International Quilt Festival.
It took Claire more than two years to make the quilt, having spent a few hundred hours on the hand appliqué alone and more than 60 hours to longarm quilt. It was made in tribute to Annie du Toi and is inspired by Delft tiles. Featuring fresh photos straight from Paducah, take a moment to admire the amazing work that Claire put into her quilt, which will surely not make you feel blue (despite the title). |

Learn About Beth in the Beginning to Beth Now
Beth Cunningham is known for her red roper boots, a nod to her grandfather’s boots, and the red petticoats worn by her grandmother. After retiring from a four-decade teaching career, she moved to Texas, where her new yard was full of real-life bugs. Inspired by these creatures, Beth began to create oversized, bold, and playful characters using colorful fabric prints, hand embroidery, and beads. Get a sense of her design by taking a look at her textile work and pieces from her Dresses with Words series in another lovely show and tell.

Victoria and Albert Museum: Fashion Unpicked - Exploring a One-Of-A-Kind 17th Century Mughal Hunting Coat |
|
|
|
A Richly Embroidered and Historical Piece of Clothing
From the Victoria and Albert Museum: "This extraordinarily rare hunting coat was made at the Mughal court in the first half of the 17th century. Richly embroidered in extremely fine chain stitch on a white satin ground, it features detailed images of wild cats, deer and rabbits, flowers, blossoming trees, birds, bugs and landscapes.
In this film, curator of South Asian textiles and dress Avalon Fotheringham takes an in-depth look at the cut and construction of the coat, both inside and out, explores the design and uncovers some secrets discovered during recent conservation work." |

"Vintage Valentines" by Rosie deLeon-McCrady
Vintage Valentines is a redwork quilt that features actual valentines that Rosie's mother-in-law received when she was in the third grade. She redrafted and simplified them to include them in the quilt. As a result, Rosie got hooked on collecting vintage valentines, and she now has thirty-two in her collection.
See more of Rosie's quilts in How to Do Redwork with Rosie DeLeon McCrady.
