See "Dressing the Abbey" at the Museum at Texas Tech University
From the Museum at Texas Tech University: "Step into the elegance, drama, and timeless style of Downton Abbey™ with Dressing the Abbey, an enchanting exhibition featuring thirty-six original costumes worn by the stars of the critically acclaimed television series."
More from the Museum at Texas Tech University:
"The exhibition traces the evolution of early 20th-century British fashion—from the refined Edwardian era through the daring styles of the 1920s—revealing how the changing times shaped both society and style. Each garment tells a story of shifting class dynamics, cultural transformation, and the artistry of design, bringing to life the world of the aristocratic Crawley family and the devoted servants of their grand English estate.
Created by the Academy Award-winning costumier Cosprop Ltd. of London, the exquisitely detailed garments range from country tweeds and riding habits to formal gowns adorned with delicate lace, embroidery, and beading. Visitors will recognize pieces worn by beloved characters such as Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham (Maggie Smith); Lady Cora Crawley (Elizabeth McGovern); and Martha Levinson (Shirley MacLaine), as well as the “downstairs” uniforms of Mr. Carson, Mrs. Patmore, Daisy, and Anna.
Fans and fashion enthusiasts alike will be captivated by this celebration of costume design and storytelling—an immersive look at how fabric, form, and fine detail defined one of the most beloved dramas of our time."
Dressing the Abbey will be on display at the Museum at Texas Tech University from January 31 - April 25, 2026.
