"Birden" a quilt by Kim Siviour

Kim Siviour combined her love for gardens and birds into this extraordinary quilt, Birden, which was featured at the Houston International Quilt Festival in 2018.

 

Much of Kim's inspiration for Birden came from sections of old quilts that she married together with today's fabrics. She said it was a challenge, as she was not a fan of doing hexagons, but it was worth the effort in the end.

I love this quilt! I am so happy that you got past your dislike of hexagons! They are not my favorite either, but this turned out so cute. I might have to give hexagons a try myself.

I appreciate hexagon work. Something I am only temporarily interested in trying. This piece is a wonder. Such a creative way of using hexagons. It makes me rethink the use of them. Outstanding work.
