Featured Quilt - Second Place Pieced at Houston 2024
Citrus Zing by Linda Steele won Second Place - Pieced (Sponsored by AccuQuilt) at Houston International Quilt Festival 2024. The delicious machine piecing, machine quilting, and improv piecing is on full display in Linda's quilt, which when combined with her appetizing inspiration can be perfectly summed up by her artist statement: "Juicy fruits on a plate and refreshing drinks are just what you need on a hot summer day." |

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Seeing "Stars" |
"Twinkling Stars" by Lynn Carson Harris
The stars in Lynn's Twinkling Stars quilt are three inches finished and were created using Gwen Marston's liberated piecing technique. The centers of each star are print scraps, while the points are free pieced using solid fabrics. It took Lynn over a year to make the quilt and came out to be a whopping 67" by 73" when all was said and done. That's a big quilt for all those tiny stars.
See more of Lynn's quilts in How to Use Your Fabric Scraps with Lynn Carson Harris. |
