Featured Quilt - Andrea Brokenshire's Judge's Choice Award at Houston 2025
The Turning of the Wheel by Pamela Trantham received Andrea Brokenshire's Judge's Choice Award at the Houston International Quilt Festival 2025. In addition, Pamela's quilt also won Third Place - Small Wall Quilts - Hand Quilted (Sponsored by Martelli Enterprises) at this year's AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah. As for the inspiration, Pamela says, "This quilt was based on a medicine wheel, with spiritual symbols from across cultures and time. The East stands for enlightenment, the South for plants and emotion, the West for earth and ancestors, and the North for the wind, thunder, and animals. It was bound with a hand-appliquéd Sawtooth binding that extends the colors for each direction to the edge of the piece." |

"Bumblebee and Coneflowers" by Carol Morrissey
Bumblebee and Coneflowers was created using an assortment of both dyed and painted fabrics. Inspired by a photograph that she took, Carol used painted appliqués that were fused on to the hand dyed background to create this stunningly realistic looking natured-inspired quilt. In fact, the bumblebee looks so real, it just might fly right off the quilt and into your garden.
