Haute Couture as Only Chanel Could Do

From the Victoria and Albert Museum: "Join Curator Stephanie Wood as she carefully unboxes a haute couture cocktail suit, hat and handbag designed by Gabrielle Chanel for her Spring/Summer 1965 collection. Made from a cloqué fabric, the suit jacket and dress are highly textured, giving the look a distinctive, sculptured quality. Watch and listen as Stephanie shows us the detailing on the pieces, including buttons, labels, pockets and ribbons, whilst telling us about the original wearer of the suit – a very stylish woman named Antoinette."

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A "Gentle" Giraffe Quilt

"Gentle Giant" by Jane Haworth

Jane says of Gentle Giant"This quilt was originally made for the 'Better World' exhibit curated by Susan Brubaker Knapp and Lyric Kinard. This quilt is dedicated to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, the only GMO supporting the conservation of the Giraffe species in Africa. I hope it will raise awareness of the current plight of giraffes. They are on the vulnerable category on the endangered species list and one sub-species is now at the endangered level. Half of my proceeds from this quilt I will donate to GFC. In this quilt I use African fabrics, printed of African Animals, vintage silks, denim and other assorted fabrics.
