I Come To The Garden by Diane Swartzendruber received Nancy Mahoney's June Tailor, Inc. Judge’s Recognition Award at AQS QuiltWeek – Paducah 2025. Diane's quilt features over 500 Log Cabin blocks, surrounded by too many leaves to count, which make up the garden of the title. "Dave" by Karla Alexander
The subject of Karla's quilt, Dave, is her brother-in-law Dave who lives in Seattle. Dave is a retired architect who worked on many of the buildings in downtown Seattle. At the time, Dave was redoing a daylight studio shop that featured many concrete calls, of which he was a fan of their contemporary aesthetic. But Karla felt that he needed something to brighten those walls up, so she took a picture of him, added an Andy Warhol style to it, and Dave the quilt was born.
