Featured Quilt - Caution, Quilters At Play

A quilter's playground is when they have all the fabric they want and they can just go to town, dreaming up the impossible for the world to see. But what happens when a quilter visits an actual playground? Well, inspiration strikes! At least it did for Geri Patterson-Kutras, whose quilt, The Playground, was featured in the New Quilts of Northern Competition at PIQF 2019. Geri says, "The overlapping contours of the apparatus created new landscapes of angles and shadows, making my imagination race." So whether you are in a metaphorical, or literal, playground let your creativity soar because the possibilities are endless!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Pretty In Purple

"Passionately Purple" by Kris Vierra

Passionately Purple is Kris' first longarm quilted quilt. Winning the 2008 Rookie of the Year at MQS, Kris says of her work, "This was my first show quilt. My mom bet me I couldn’t make a purple quilt and I said watch me. The corner lemoyne stars are appliqued onto the setting squares and surrounded with feathered wreaths and crosshatching to complete the traditional look."
