Featured Quilt - 2nd Place Modern Quilts at the 2023 Festival of Quilts


Modern Star by Claire Wallace won 2nd Place in the Modern Quilts category (Sponsored by SCHMETZ Needles) at the 2023 Festival of Quilts in Birmingham. Claire had this to say about her stunningly vibrant green quilt: "Inspired by South Africa's oldest quilt made by Sari Dreyer, this is my modern interpretation of her coverlet. I used modern colours of solid fabrics and combined straight line quilting with more traditional hexagonal shapes to bring the old and new together."

Assembling A Lotus With Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo

A New Project Is Blooming


Leslie Rinchen-Wongmo shows how to prepare and stiffen flower units using a starch along with achieving a crisp edge in our brand new show. Using a drawing as a reference, she then builds and hand stitches the flower pieces together into a lotus.

"Rocks" by Esterita Austin


Rocks comes from a two-day class that Esterita teaches about working with paint to create more depth on a quilt's surface. She finds that by using paints, specifically textile paints; you can really push an image to pop by emphasizing the highlighting and shadow of certain areas.
