Featured Quilt - A Fiesta For The Eyes

Long time friend, and guest of The Quilt Show Cyndi McChesney (Show 1910), is a recent double-award winner. Her quilt (which made her think of a Fiesta), FieStar, won a Blue Ribbon for Best Longarm Machine Workmanship in the Innovative Category of Mancuso's Visuals #1 last Summer and a Purple Ribbon for Exceptional Merit at the Vermont Quilt Festival just last week. Cyndi made this "bright and colorful, happy quilt" after Ricky challenged her "to make a quilt to enter into a competition during last summer's lock down." It is always nice to see out guests get the recognition they deserve. Congratulations Cyndi!

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Pivoting Towards Hand Dyes

"Total Eclipse of the Pivot" by Kim Eichler-Messmer

Total Eclipse of the Pivot was created with hand dyed fabrics using marigold, weld, and walnut, along with striped fabric from Kim's "imbue" line of modern batiks. It is made from three layers of cloth, stitched together, and then cut to reveal layers of color and texture below.
