Featured Quilt - An Extra Strip of Fabric Creates a Striking New Design
Desert Spoon by Danielle Coronado was on display at QuiltCon Atlanta 2023 in the Modern Traditionalism category. We are fascinated by how she took a traditional block, the Delectable Mountain, and just by inserting a strip of fabric, took the design to a whole new level.

One's A First Time Visitor and the Other Is Back for More TQS Fun!
Two of the top teachers in the industry
visited The Quilt Show to bring you their latest tips and techniques.
Award-winning fiber artist and fabric illustrator, Kestrel Michaud, was destined to be an artist. With creative parents who encouraged her from an early age, to art school professors who recognized her gift of working with fabric and refused to let her work in other mediums, to discovering the world of quilting blended with hi-tech. Learn how Kestrel creates raw-edge frayless fused-appliqué quilts and how to make your own accurate color card swatches for perfect fabric selecting.
Then Sarah Vedeler, the queen of machine embroidery, shows you how to use computerized software to quilt with embroidery on a domestic sewing machine.
Learn from them both by watching A Mod Podge Appliqué Technique and Fabric Selection with Kestrel Michaud | Embroidery Hoop Quilting with Sarah Vedeler, which debuts today.

For Your Inspiration - A Modern Bridge in South Korea
|

The Magnificent Banpo Bridge
Continuing with a selection of Modern Bridges to inspire your
quilting creativity, Captn' John has selected the magnificent Banpo Bridge in South Korea. The Banpo Bridge, also known as the Banpodaegyo Bridge, is a treasured landmark located in Seoul, the capital city of South Korea. Captn' John feels this bridge celebrates color and embellishment. It also seems to highlight the contrast between traditional and modern quilting in that it was inspired by the harmony between nature and urban life.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Amongst The Leaves

"Leaf Sampler" by Colleen Wise
Colleen's Leaf Sampler quilt
was created using a discharging technique, one that she learned and became fascinated with after taking a discharging class. Seeing it as an epiphany moment for her work, Colleen uses this technique in her quilts to put a back to a specific surface, which then acts as a shadow for the object and provides it the depth that it would not otherwise have on top of the quilt. The inspiration for this quilt, as you may have guessed from its title, was all the different leaves that Colleen picked up from every tree around her town.
See more of Colleen's quilts in Learn How to Shadow on Blocks, Discharge Leaves, and Marble Fabric with Colleen Wise.
