Featured Quilt - Third Place Piecing at QuiltCon 2023
Sunshine Daydream by Karen K. Stone won Third Place in the Piecing category at QuiltCon 2023. While it was submitted to QuiltCon as a show quilt, at Karen's home Sunshine Daydream serves a different purpose. Here's what she had to say about its creation and how it's used at her house. "Improvisationally pieced from hand-dyed and commercial cottons. My daughter has claimed this as a sofa quilt, so wool batting and only moderately dense quilting offer the requisite warmth."

How Stories Told with Fabric Can Come from Storybooks
Geri Patterson-Kutras talks about how well illustrated children's books, that tell a story with very few words, can be a good source of inspiration. Using the example of a tree with a few leaves, Geri stresses the importance of editing elements to just those that define the story. She then shares how the photo of two elderly ladies became a quilt story of friendship that many viewers immediately respond to.
