Featured Quilt - Third Place at Other at Road to California 2023
African Crazy Play by Ann Horton won Third Place - Other at Road to California 2023. Ann was previously featured as a guest on The Quilt Show demonstrating her machine embroidery skills, which she puts to good use in this colorfully vibrant crazy quilt created from her own stash. She says, "My African textile stash seemed right for crazy patchwork. Layers of applique, hand quilting and embroidered inserts called for borders of playful plants and lion cubs."
Learn from Ann by watching her in How to Make a Landscape Quilt with Laura Fogg | How to do
Machine Embroidery with Ann Horton. (She is in the fourth segment of the show, which you can skip right to by clicking Chapter 4 on the right of the show.)

Get Your Patterns for "Homeward Bound" Month 02
|
|
|

The Second Month Calls For The Second Set of Patterns
It's the first of the Month, which means
it's time for the next round of BOM patterns. In Month 2 of The Quilt Show's 2023 Block Of the Month, Homeward Bound, you'll be splitting the hollyhock blocks into two sections. There is a lot of sewing in these corner pieces, so you will be stitching the small circles to the larger ones, then stitching the large circles down this month, and then finishing the smaller circles and leaves next month.

"Boro" by Ruth Chandler
Boro is a passion of Ruth Chandler's and this quilt, also called Boro, is a great example of what it's all about. For those who don't know, boro is "the practice of reworking and repairing textiles (often clothes or bedding) through piecing, patching and stitching, in order to extend their use."
See more of Ruth's quilts in Learn to Do Boro with Ruth Chandler | Ruching with Wendy Grande.
