Featured Quilt - Things Are Getting Spooky
It's that time of year and The Quilt Show loves a good halloween quilt and this is a good one. Lydia's Halloween by Brenda L. Ziegler was featured at the 2022 Pacific International Quilt Festival.
Brenda writes, "In order to make my first Halloween quilt, I chose a panel planning to cut out the silhouetted witch. I liked the full panel so much that my design grew out of it. I was inspired to offset the various Halloween images whimsically bordering the panel by a Connie Bowles quilt pattern." |

Building A Small Composition with Deborah Fell |
Good Things Come In Small Packages
Deborah Fell showcases a quilt composed of many small compositions, which she uses as a teaching tool. On our brand new show she explains how these small pieces help refine design skills with minimal time and materials, serving either as valuable lessons or as the foundation for a larger series. She also introduces a range of tools and materials, demonstrating how to layer and hand-stitch without marking to create beautifully imperfect art.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: Karen Kay Buckley's First Medallion Quilt |
"Dreaming of the Tropics" by Karen Kay Buckley
Dreaming of the Tropics was the very first medallion style quilt that Karen made and represented a turning point in her quilting career. By making the quilt, she found that she liked the symmetry and balance brought about by this style. In hindsight, Karen found that there wasn't a single thing she didn't like about the quilt and that she loved making it. From here, she wanted to see where she could go with the ideas generated from creating it.
