Featured Quilt - Let The Summer Fun Commence!

Summer's just begun, and kicks into high-gear this Friday with the Fourth of July. Start your celebrations early, but maybe hold off on the fireworks for a few days, by basking in the glow of TQS favorite Eleanor Burns' quilt, Patriotic Summer. The quilt features her signature log cabin blocks, of which there are 28, as well as 14 pieced blocks. These pieced blocks, Eleanor says, each tell a bit of the story of her life.

Working in a Limited Color Palette with Karla Overland

See How Fewer Options Can Yield Spectacular Results

Karla Overland begins our brand new show by explaining how working with a limited range of colors and values can create subtle yet effective contrast—proving that less is often more. She shares tips on finding contrast even when using low-intensity colors or a limited palette, an approach she frequently uses in wearables to achieve a refined and sophisticated style.

Granddaughter's Spring Colorway

July's BOM Fun Begins Today

For Month 7 of Laurel Ridge, the 2025 Block Of the Month designed by Lynn Wilder, you'll be making 24 total Four Patch in a Star blocks. As you already made some of these in Month 1, you can use the method for making four flying geese at one time.

There are two colorways for this year's BOM, Grandmother's Autumn and Granddaughter's Spring. If you purchased either of these kits, make sure to download the pattern that goes with the appropriate colorway as they do differ because of the fabrics being used. If you are using your own fabrics, we recommend that you download the patterns from the Grandmother's Autumn colorway to use as your guide.

The Quilt Show Puzzle: A Watchful Quilt

"Angel Watching Over Me" by Melissa Sobotka

Melissa writes about Angel Watching Over Me, "I prefer not to show faces on angels so you can focus on their power instead of their personality. In viewing this angel from behind, I wanted to know what it was gazing upon. It became the universe. In the vastness of the universe, the focus narrowed to a pinpoint. This faceless angel became the one that patiently and lovingly stands sentry, guarding, guiding, and watching over me."
