The Quilt Show Puzzle: Digging Down Deep

"Rooted in Color" by Carly Mul

Carly is a firm believer that we should not think in black and white, but in color and nuance, because then we get much better results in our work. Rooted in Color was inspired by Benartex' landscapes batik collection of fabrics, which were originally presented to quilters horizontally and which Carly turned vertically in her quilt to create the illusion of lines growing. The title of the quilt is represented visually by having the dark fabrics on the bottom of the quilt and having them grow into the brighter and lighter colors until they reach the white skies.
